BOXES AND BOXES OF BOOKS!

BOXES AND BOXES OF BOOKS!

.

At Dry Ridge Elementary’s DREAMS Assembly on March 7, 2014, DRE students were able to visibly see the fruits of their labor, plus gain a greater understanding of how working together makes a difference in the lives of others!

Mrs. Belinda Furman, fourth grade teacher at Dry Ridge Elementary, had enlisted the help of DRE staff, students, and families for a book drive entitled “For the Love of Reading”. The goal was to share their love of reading with children at the Red Bird Mission located in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky.

With everyone doing their part, and pooling their efforts, over 3,000 books were donated to the cause – which made a very impressive sight to behold at the culminating assembly.

Grant County Schools wishes to commend Mrs. Furman for her efforts which not only met the needs of children less fortunate elsewhere, but also taught our students valuable lessons about giving, effort, and teamwork. A special thanks, also, to Mr. Kuta and DRE’s Recycling Team for their extra effort collecting donated books each week.

Way to go, DRE!
