GC MARCHING BAND HEADS TO STATE!

The Grant County Marching Band is on its way to Bowling Green for state KMEA competition this weekend!

Grant County will march in state semi-final competition on Saturday, October 31, 2015, at 1:45 pm (at Greenwood High School) with hopes to be one of the top four bands that will advance to Finals competition at Western Kentucky University that evening!

Grant County earned its spot in Saturday morning’s semi-finals after competing in AAAA Quarter Finals (East Regionals) this past weekend at Madison Southern High School in Berea.  Of the eleven AAAA bands from the eastern half of Kentucky competing AAAA Quarter Finals, Grant County emerged in FIRST PLACE with a score of 87.45 – 3 full points ahead of its closest competitor!  In compiling this score, GC won first in Music Performance, first in Visual Performance, first in Visual Effect, and second (by 0.1) in Music Effect!  Though scores may or may not be consistent with judges at a different venue, it’s worth noting that Grant County’s score on Saturday also exceeded the scores of all AAAA bands competing simultaneously in the west!

In semi-finals this upcoming Saturday morning/afternoon, 16 bands -- the top eight AAAA bands from the east and the top eight AAAA bands from the west -- will go head-to-head competing for four spots at Finals.    This scenario will be duplicated throughout Bowling Green for each of the other 4 band classes -- with the state’s best 20 bands arriving at WKU for Finals Saturday evening.

The Grant County Marching Band is under the direction of Dr. Timothy Dailey and assistant Mr. Andrew McGrannahan.  We send our congratulations and wish them every success this weekend!
