HURLEY TO BE RECOGNIZED BY THE FAMILY NURTURING CENTER

Karla Hurley, Family Resource Center Director at Mason-Corinth Elementary, has been selected by the Family Nurturing Center of Northern Kentucky to receive the “Champions for Change” award at their 20th Annual August Affair on Friday, August 22. The award is given to an individual, organization, or corporation who has demonstrated a commitment to creating a culture of change for how society views and responds to child abuse. In order to change the outcomes, change the statistics, change the attitudes, and change the conversation, communities must work together to prevent and confront all forms of child abuse.

This past April, the entire Grant County community came together to “Paint the Town Blue” for Child Abuse Prevention Education Awareness, thanks mostly to Karla’s personal efforts and commitment to protect and confront all forms of child abuse and neglect. Karla coordinated a high-quality, large-scale observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month in Grant County that focused on hope for those who have experienced the realities of child abuse.

Though it is Karla’s desire that only her cause receive attention, we are proud that others have seen her commitment and have chosen to recognize her efforts. She will be recognized as part of the Family Nurturing Center’s signature fund-raising gala, the August Affair, on Friday, August 22, 2014.
