This past weekend, September 10-11, 2010, the Grant County High School Varsity JROTC Raider Team traveled to Southern High School Magnet Career Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, and competed against fifteen other Kentucky high school JROTC Raider teams. Each high school JROTC unit was allowed to enter two Raider teams in the competition, for a total of thirty teams. Each team was comprised of twelve JROTC cadets, so there were approximately 360 cadet team members participating in Southern's Competition.
The overall team for Grant County High School was led by Cadet Gray, Team Commander, and Cadet Parker, the team’s Cadet 1st Sergeant. Individual Team Commanders were Cadet Napier – Team 1; and Cadet Kuechler – Team 2. Cadet Post led the team support squad. The timed events that made up the competition included an Army Physical Fitness Test, the One-Rope Bridging Competition, a Leadership Reaction Course with eight internal leadership tasks, and a twenty-problem wooden Confidence / Obstacle Course.

- SECOND PLACE OVERALL in the One-Rope Bridging Competition
The above finishes allowed Grant County High School JROTC Teams to accumulate more total competition points than any other high school JROTC unit and finish as the

Our Grant County JROTC Cadets put forth great effort in preparing for this competition, then demonstrated that preparation in an outstanding manner in head-to-head competition against teams from across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The GCHS JROTC Team turned in a superlative performance when it counted - in competition!!
The Army JROTC instructors would like to publicly recognize their efforts and congratulate them on the EXCELLENT JOB THEY DID!! This performance demonstrates the exceptional cadets/students that Grant County has, and represents the school district, high school and community in a outstanding manner which is worthy of emulation by all others!
