APRIL IS CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
During the month of April each year, the Grant County School District, together with the Grant County community, engages in special awareness campaigns focused on Child Abuse Prevention.

Step up.  Speak Out.  Together Let's Stop Child Abuse LogoLocally, several activities are planned, including:

Wear a Superhero shirt -- Be a hero for children
Friday, April 27, 2018

Nominate a hero.
Do you know someone in our community who has been an avid child advocate?  If yes, consider nominating this individual (not a police officer or social worker) for a new "Special Child Advocate Award".  Nominators should provide the name, address, and contact information for both themselves, and the nominee, together with the reason why they should be nominated. Nominations should be received by Karla Hurley by April 18, 2018.

For additional information about any of these events, please contact Karla Hurley at 859-824-9510 or [email protected].

What to be more hands on?  Consider the following:
1)  Volunteer your time with parents and children in your community.
2) Discipline your children thoughtfully -- after you are calm, and in a way that appropriately teaches you child.
3)  Examine your behavior.  Abuse is not just physical.
4)  Educate yourself and others.
5)  Teach children their rights.
6)  Support prevention programs.
7)  Know what child abuse is.
8)  Learn the signs associated with all forms of abuse.
9)  Report abuse.
10)  Invest in kids.
