It is with much excitement that we announce the new principal at Grant County Middle School. Congratulations, Mr. Dustin Plunkett for accepting this new role.  Mr. Plunkett is a 2004 graduate of Grant County High School, a fourteen-year veteran of Grant County Schools, and now the newest Principal within the district. Mr. Plunkett accepts the position for the 2024-2025 school year which became vacant when the current principal, Jason Frilling announced his resignation to accept a role within Walton-Verona School District beginning in July 2024.   Incoming Superintendent, Todd Moody stated, “ Both the Council and I were impressed with Mr. Plunkett’s desire to partner with all stakeholders to provide the best possible learning experiences for students at Grant County Middle School. It is obvious that Mr. Plunkett cares deeply about this community.  I am confident that his leadership will reflect his belief in the students and staff.”

Mr. Plunkett explains, “As head principal at Grant County Middle School, I will seek to forge strong bonds with students, staff, parents, and stakeholders, laying the foundation for a collaborative and inclusive culture where everyone can thrive.” Before his new role, Mr. Plunkett served as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Grant County Middle School during the 2023-2024 school year.  His tenure within the district has allowed him to be a coach, and a physical education teacher as well. “Drawing upon my experiences and passion for fostering collaboration and trust, I will be committed to cultivating an environment where every individual feels valued, heard, and supported.” Added Mr. Plunkett.

Dustin and his wife, Vivian have three children who attend Sherman Elementary.  The Plunkett family is very active within the community in various organizations. We are very excited to see how Mr. Plunkett impacts the students, families, and staff at Grant County Middle School. Mr. Plunkett shared, “With a vision centered on relationship building, I am poised to lead Grant County Middle School towards a future defined by unity, empowerment, and collective success. I am proud to be from Grant County and look forward to representing my home with the same love that Grant County has shown me.”
