In 2008, the Grant County Board of Education established the Hall of Fame Award recognizing the achievements of individual students or groups of students during their high school career.  The award is given in the Fall, following the completion of each academic year.

Those receiving Hall of Fame status have performed at an exceptionally high level and have met the award’s pre-determined benchmarks in one or more of the following areas:academics, athletics, the arts, and co-curricular organizations.

On the evening of October 16, 2015, the 2014 Grant County High School Marching Band was recognized and inducted into the Grant County Schools Hall of Fame – honoring their 2nd place state finish in the 2014 Kentucky Music Educators Association AAAA Marching Band competition!

Throughout the 2014 season, the GCHS marching band, under the direction of Dr. Tim Dailey and assistant, Mr. Andrew McGrannahan, earned the following for their show, “Dilemma”:

  • Third place overall at the Beechwood Festival of Bands
  • Third place overall at Northern Kentucky Marching Band Festival - Campbell County
  • Sixth place overall at Madison Central Tournament of Bands
  • Reserve Grand Champion at Bryan Station’s Bluegrass Pageant of Bands
  • Second place in KMEA AAAA East Regionals
  • First place in KMEA AAAA State Semi-Finals
  • Second place KMEA AAAA State Finals

The pre-determined Hall of Fame criteria recognizes first or second place state finishes in various disciplines.  A first or second place state finish for a marching band means these students have persevered through sun, wind, and rain to perfect the timing, direction, and distance of every single step made by 85 individual students, all while properly interpreting and performing extraordinarily difficult music – and have done so under the critical eye of some of the state and nation’s most renowned adjudicators.

Our congratulations to the 2014 Grant County High School Marching Band! These students have represented Grant County with excellence!
