  1. Gravity- the force that attracts a body toward the center of the earth, or toward any other physical body having mass.

  2. Axis- is a real or imaginary line on which something rotates, or a straight line around which things are evenly arranged.

  3. Moon- the natural satellite of the earth, visible (chiefly at night) by reflected light from the sun.

  4. Star- a fixed luminous point in the night sky that is a large, remote incandescent body like the sun.

     

  5. Dwarf Planet- a celestial body resembling a small planet but lacking certain technical criteria that are required for it to be classed as such.

  6. Universe- all existing matter and space considered as a whole; the cosmos.

  7. Milky Way- the spiral galaxy containing our solar system. With the naked eye it is observed as a faint luminous band stretching across the heavens.

  8. Tilt of the Earth- a change in attitude of any portion of the earth's surface whether temporary or undulatory or permanent; especially : one in which the inclination of the surface is increased.

  9. Meteor- a small body of matter from outer space that enters the earth's atmosphere, becoming incandescent as a result of friction and appearing as a streak of light.

  10. Meteorite- a meteor that survives its passage through the earth's atmosphere such that part of it strikes the ground.

  11. Meteoroid- a small body moving in the solar system that would become a meteor if it entered the earth's atmosphere.
