ACT Information
Who: Any student (any age) interested in taking the ACT
Where: Offered at Various Locations in Northern and Central Kentucky
How: The ACT is the most widely accepted college entrance exam and may be taken multiple times. Students may register online.
KEES $ (Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship)
The KEES program provides scholarships to students who earn at least a 2.5 GPA each year they attend a certified Kentucky high school. The better they do in high school, the more they earn toward college. They may also earn awards for ACT/SAT scores and Advanced Placement (AP) scores.
Students may check their KEES awards at anytime by logging into Zip Access. First-time visitors to Zip Access must create a user ID and password by clicking on the “register now” link. If there is no record or incorrect data is found, students should notify their school counselor.
KHEAA updates student accounts each year as information as information is received from high schools.
Here are some important KEES facts of which students should be aware:
· AP and IB courses are weighted for KEES purposes, meaning an “A” in those classes is worth 25 percent more than other courses. Honors courses are not weighted.
· KEES awards are not final and available for use until after the student graduates from high school.
· The highest ACT composite or SAT (critical reading and math) score received from national tests taken before graduation will be used to determine the KEES bonus award.
· Once students are in college, half of the annual KEES award will be sent after classes begin each fall and spring semester. To get the full award, students must be enrolled full-time. To keep the full scholarship, students must earn a 2.5 cumulative GPA the first year in college and a 3.0 cumulative GPA afterwards. If students have a cumulative GPA less than 3.0 after their second year in college, the award renewal amount will be based on additional requirements, including enrollment status and progress toward meeting the college’s graduation requirements.
