Mason-Corinth Elementary Principal Nicole Davis has been selected to join a distinguished group of educators. Mrs. Davis is one of only 15 members nationwide chosen to participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Principal Panel. NAEP is responsible for creating the Nation’s Report Card, which provides a standardized measure of student achievement. “Working on the Principal Panel will give me the opportunity to see firsthand how the nation is progressing academically,” shared Davis.
Davis is thrilled to collaborate with this elite and experienced group of principals. The selection process for the panel was rigorous, and Davis was chosen from numerous applications across the country. The panel recognized her extensive professional experience as a key factor in her selection. With a background as an elementary teacher, high school counselor, and now elementary principal, it’s clear why they were impressed.
The principal panel requires three trips to Washington, D.C., throughout the year. Davis recently returned from her first trip, feeling invigorated and eager to use what she learned to help Grant County Schools achieve greater proficiency. “The work with NAEP will benefit GCS by allowing us to identify successful trends in education across the nation and bring that information back. It will also provide us with contacts to discuss how improvements in proficiency are being achieved,” said Davis.
Grant County Schools Superintendent Todd Moody expressed his enthusiasm: “I have no doubt that Mrs. Davis will represent Grant County in a positive and meaningful way as she engages with education leaders from across the nation. She cares deeply about student learning. I look forward to the insights and knowledge that she will bring to the district as a result of participating in this work.” We are excited for Nicole to be recognized as a premier educator and look forward to seeing how all the pieces connect to create a more robust education system within Grant County Schools!
