On July 1, 2024, Grant County Schools began the creation of a district-wide strategic plan. The plan will create action steps for the district over the next three years. Phase 1 of the process consisted of two Town Hall meetings and a community survey. Grant County Schools received 458 responses to the survey. 53.7% of the responses came from our parent population, 26.5% from our community, and 19.8% from our staff. Grant County Schools Superintendent, Todd Moody shares, "I am grateful that members from all roles of our community took the time to carefully weigh in on the direction of our district. We want to make sure that we move in a direction that reflects our beliefs and values.”
Among the results, 77% of respondents believe teacher retention is directly impacted by salary and benefits and 85% of respondents want improved staff retention. “The desire to recruit and retain qualified staff reflects the priority of a quality education. Identifying the barriers is only the first step. The more difficult task will be to find solutions that will allow us to perform on par with similar districts.” stated Mr. Moody.
Moving into the next phase, the district will create a committee of parents, community members, and staff members to analyze the data and create the district's action steps. The committee will meet over the next three months to create the strategic plan. Once the committee is confident in the plan, Mr. Moody will present the plan to the Grant County Board of Education for implementation.
We know the process can be arduous, but Grant County Schools will achieve student-centered excellence for every child through this work.
