Celebrating 70 Years of Grant County Schools

In 1954, Grant County Schools consolidated into the public school district we have today. There were numerous early schools from 1820-1900, with records of 40 or more common districts throughout Grant County. These schools were located so that students could walk up to 2 miles one way to get to school. In the early 1900s, Grant County had five high schools: Crittenden, Dry Ridge, Corinth, Mason, and Williamstown. All high schools except Williamstown, which became an independent district, consolidated into present-day Grant County Schools. Crittenden High School graduated students from 1911 to 1953, Dry Ridge High School from 1912 to 1953, Corinth High School from 1918 to 1953, and Mason High School from 1921 to 1953.

The Grant County League for Better Schools purchased the property on which present-day Grant Co. Middle School sits. This organization held the land until the consolidation took place and the building was erected. The first graduating class from Grant County Schools was in 1954, seventy years ago.

Grant County Schools is celebrating our commitment to a great public education on October 12, 2024, at the Grant County Middle School (previously Grant County High School) from 1 pm to 5 pm. Please join us for an open house. Gather with us in the gymnasium, share memories, and if you would like, take a tour of the building. We hope to celebrate the many alumni we have and the common bond that has brought us all together, Grant County Schools.
