Braves Have Historic Season
Grant County High School Football: Celebrating a Historic Season
The Grant County High School football program is celebrating its first winning season since 2008, marking a monumental year for the team and community. Head Coach Josh Cole reflected on this season’s success:
"I could go on for days about this team. They’re not just great players—they’re great people."
This year’s achievements include several historic milestones:
  • Best Start in School History: The team began the season with an impressive 3-0 record.
  • Most District Wins: Setting a new standard for district success.
  • Highest Playoff Seed: Achieving the top playoff position in school history.
  • First Win Over a Private School: Defeating Holy Cross with a commanding 20-3 victory.
  • First Win Over Harrison County: Another historic first for the program.
Individual Records
Senior standout Cameron Duncan left an indelible mark on the program, setting several school records:
  • Most Rushing Touchdowns in a Game: 6 TDs vs. Fort Knox.
  • Most Points Scored in a Game: 39 points in a single matchup.
  • Leading Career Rusher: Amassing 2,128 rushing yards—the highest in school history.
Building a Legacy
This season showcased not only the talent of Grant County football players but also their determination to break barriers and instill pride in the community. Looking ahead, the team is already preparing for next year.
"We will be working hard to prepare for our new district in 2025. The GCHS Barbell Club is already in full swing, getting stronger for next season," Coach Cole shared.
Coach Cole is also focused on expanding the program’s impact off the field:
 "I’m committed to improving our schemes, enhancing our facilities, and recruiting more players to join our program."
The Braves’ success this season is a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and dedication. The community eagerly anticipates what’s next for Grant County football, knowing this is only the beginning.
