Grant County Cheer Mid-Year Updates
The Grant County High School Cheerleading squad’s season stretches from May through March, making it one of the longest-running sports seasons at Grant County High School. Despite facing several setbacks this year, head coach Sydney Kemper remains optimistic and energetic about the upcoming competition season.
“This year is a rebuilding year for GCHS Cheerleading,” said Coach Kemper. “We don’t have any seniors, but our juniors are stepping up and showing excellent leadership for our young squad.”
While the team did not secure a bid to UCA Nationals this spring, their focus remains sharp as they prepare to compete in Nashville for a National Championship in the Game Day Division II category. “We are continuing to work toward our goal of reaching Nashville, attending smaller competitions to showcase our routine and build confidence for the larger stage,” Kemper explained.
With such a lengthy season, the team’s goals must remain the focus. This year, the young squad is focused on strengthening their tumbling and stunting skills, with the ambition of competing in the 2.5-minute category next season.
