DRE NAMES MR. SCOTT SPICHER AS NEW PRINCIPAL

Mr. Scott SpicherDry Ridge Elementary is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Scott Spicher as its new principal.  Mr. Spicher’s duties will begin July 1, 2020, and follows the previously announced retirement of Mrs. Bobbie Jo Pelfrey, who has served as DRE’s principal for the past ten years.

Mr. Spicher has served in a variety of roles in the field of education over the past sixteen years.  He has worked in both Kentucky and Ohio as a teacher, a coach, a district office administrator, and a building administrator – most recently as Assistant Principal at both Amelia Elementary School and Holly Hill Elementary School in the West Clermont School District in Ohio.  Mr. Spicher is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati (BFA) and Georgetown College (MA).

Mr. Spicher describes himself as possessing a “passion for working with students, teachers, parents, and the community to deliver the best possible educational experience for all students.”  With regard to his leadership approach, he adds, “I believe in building a collaborative, family environment where we all work together for the betterment of our students, our school, and our community.  I also believe in open, honest, timely, and transparent communication so that we are all on the same page working together.”  

Mr. Spicher has enjoyed the opportunity to glimpse inside the efforts of DRE staff, students, and families over the past several weeks, and has been inspired by what he has seen.  “I am honored to be the next Principal at DRE!”  

Mr. Spicher and his wife, Laura, reside in Burlington, Kentucky, with their four children, Abby, Ben, Connor, and AJ.  Please welcome them to the Grant County Schools family!
