Grant County High School Senior Automotive Technology students that earned their industry certificates received a nice surprise today. Sixteen seniors received a free pair of steel-toe shoes from the Kentucky Youth Apprenticeship grant. The grant provides opportunities for area seniors in the college and career pathways to receive career-ready items. The Northern Kentucky Cooperative for Educational Services (NKCES) provided the grant opportunity. The mission of NKCES is to "[to] build Northern Kentucky's future workforce." Grant County High School Career and Technology Associate Principal, Mr. Larry Butler shared, "It is a great program that allows us to help our students enter the workforce prepared." The total cost of the shoes was covered by the grant with help from a local retailer, RT Outfitters. Additional career and tech students will be receiving career-ready items as the year progresses from this same grant.
