Grant County High School 1:1 with Technology
To begin the 2022 school year, students at Grant County High School will be receiving additional instructional support.  Grant County High School announced it will be providing all students with a Chromebook to begin the school year.  "Providing 1:1 technology for our students allows us to modernize, equip our students for the workforce, and increase learning efficiency." shared Mr. Todd Moody, Principal at GCHS.  Mr. Moody is excited to provide technology for students to complete and store their work.  "I see it as a modern backpack, instead of a trapper keeper (3 ring-binder) to hold important documents and remain organized, the Chromebook fulfills that need.  Allowing students added convenience and efficiency for sharing and completing work."

Families can provide their own devices for their students. The device cannot be a tablet or phone, it must be a laptop or Chromebook.   Grant County Schools Network Administrator, Becky Epperson is helping roll out the project.  Mrs. Epperson wants families to be aware that, “All students are required to check out a device or provide their own device.  As well as all students who check out a device must pay a $29.00 insurance fee that covers the device for the school year.”   The fee is added to the student fee schedule to begin the school year.  The fee will cover accidental damage to the Chromebook, it does not cover adapter damage.

The added responsibility of the Chromebook is something that will assist students in their future employment.  “We will allow students to take the devices home with the expectation they are brought back fully charged.  Just as any adult would in the workforce,” said Mr. Moody.
Students can expect to receive their Chromebook during the first couple of weeks of school. Grant County Schools now has 1:1 technology at both, Grant County Middle School and Grant County High School.  The Superintendent of Grant County Schools, Mr. Matthew Morgan shares, “Increasing student access to technology has been a priority in our district the last several years, we continue to update and make improvements yearly as technology improves.”
