Model Classroom
The Grant County Schools Model Classroom Teacher project began in 2013 as a result of a partnership between the Grant County Schools Education Foundation and the Grant County School District. The purpose of the Model Classroom Teacher project was to define attributes of teaching excellence, recognize the excellence, and use the Model Classroom as a professional learning laboratory for all teachers.
Model Classroom status may be earned in any one (or more) of six areas:
Content Literacy, Culture, Assessment, Engagement, Critical Thinking, and Innovation.
Participation in the project is voluntary, with interested teachers agreeing to be assessed and critiqued in their choice(s) of the six areas.
The Grant County School District is very pleased to have benefited from the expertise of several renowned educators to perform the assessment and provide feedback to the applicants: Mrs. Barb Gayheart, Mr. John Brill, Mrs. Anna Ray Martin, and Mrs. Loretta Flerlage. These educators, now retired, continue to demonstrate their passion for educating Grant County’s youth as they volunteer their time to provide these professional growth opportunities for our current staff.
