Grant County Schools was honored to welcome Kentucky Commissioner of Education, Dr. Robbie Fletcher, to the district on August 20, 2025. Superintendent Todd Moody invited Dr. Fletcher to tour schools and meet with district leaders to discuss upcoming changes to the Kentucky Accountability System.

Dr. Fletcher began his visit at Dry Ridge Elementary, where he toured the school’s recent renovations and stepped into a third-grade classroom. Introducing himself, he told students, “Hello, I’m Robbie Fletcher, and I’m in charge of all things education across the whole state of Kentucky!” Students eagerly engaged with him, even asking lighthearted questions. One student asked, “Are you a grandpa?” to which Dr. Fletcher laughed and replied, “No, not yet—hopefully sooner rather than later.”

The Commissioner then traveled to Grant County High School, where he toured the impressive Career and Technical Center alongside school administrators. He visited programs in Biomedical Sciences, Automotive, Welding, and Electrical pathways, taking time to speak directly with students in each area.

“You should be very proud and know how fortunate you are to have these opportunities right here in Grant County,” Dr. Fletcher told students. “There are only a handful of Career and Technical Centers across the state, and this one is absolutely beautiful.” Students showcased their work for the Commissioner, with automotive students even giving him a look at their hotrod Chevy project.

Dr. Fletcher concluded his visit at the Grant County Schools Transportation Department, where he met with administrators and board members to discuss the future of the accountability system. He commended the district’s progress, saying, “Grant County Schools are actually ahead of many districts across the state when it comes to the new local accountability model.”

Superintendent Todd Moody expressed pride in the district’s work: “It was very refreshing to hear that we are on the right track.  We are doing great things within our district, and we will continue to respond to the needs and values of our community as we seek to provide a high-quality education for our students.”
