Each year, Grant County High School seniors have an opportunity to reflect on their educational journey and demonstrate how they have grown through the Senior Defense of Learning.

The Senior Defense asks students to look beyond grades and coursework and consider the skills, experiences, and personal growth that have prepared them for life after high school. Using the Grant County Schools SUCCEED Profile, seniors develop a presentation demonstrating their growth in seven areas: Self-Awareness, Understanding of Others, Competence, Collaboration, Ethical, Engaged, and Determined.

Students spend many hours reflecting, preparing, and developing a presentation that tells the story of their educational experience. They then present their defense before a panel, where they are evaluated on their work and receive a grade as part of the Senior Defense process.

An important part of making this experience meaningful is having members of our community at the table.

Grant County High School is currently seeking community members who are willing to volunteer as panelists and help score Senior Defenses of Learning at the end of October. Volunteers have the opportunity to hear directly from our seniors as they share their accomplishments, challenges, growth, and plans for the future.

No previous experience is necessary. Community members interested in serving as a panelist can complete the volunteer Google Form. Grant County High School will follow up with additional information, including available dates, times, and details about the scoring process.

Our students have worked hard to reach this milestone, and they are excited to share their stories with the community that has supported them along the way.
