Just a friendly reminder, our clocks change this weekend!
Here are some simple ways to help children (and parents!) adjust to the time change:
- Get morning sunshine.
Encourage your child to spend time outdoors or open the curtains in the morning. Natural light helps reset their internal clock and makes waking up easier.
- Keep a steady routine.
Stick to regular bedtimes, mealtimes, and morning routines — even on the weekend. Consistency helps kids feel secure and rested.
- Limit screen time before bed.
Turn off TVs, tablets, and phones at least 30 minutes before bedtime. The bright light from screens can make it harder for children to fall asleep.
- Create a calming bedtime.
Dim the lights, read a story, or play quiet music before bed. This helps signal it’s time to rest — even if it feels “earlier” or “later” than usual.
- Be patient.
It can take a few days for kids (and adults!) to adjust. A little extra understanding and earlier bedtime routines can make a big difference.

Grant County Schools Food Service has again received national recognition for being an innovative and intentional program related to student nutrition education.

What makes us Great? Grant County Food Service has begun providing Nutrition Education to teach elementary students about nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle. 🚍 It’s National School Bus Safety Week! 🚍
Every day, our Grant County Schools transportation team travels over 2,600 miles to ensure students arrive safely — and that includes navigating numerous train crossings throughout our community.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility! Here are 5 important tips to keep our students and drivers safe:
1️⃣ Stop for the flashing lights.
When a bus displays red flashing lights and the stop arm is out — stop in both directions. Never try to pass a stopped school bus.
2️⃣ Be alert near train crossings.
Always expect a train — even if you don’t see or hear one. School buses must stop, look, and listen before crossing tracks.
3️⃣ Stay focused behind the wheel.
Avoid distractions like phones and loud music, especially around school zones, bus stops, and train tracks.
4️⃣ Give buses plenty of space.
They make wide turns, frequent stops, and need extra room on the road — stay back and stay patient.
5️⃣ Teach children safety habits.
Remind students to stand back from the curb, wait for the driver’s signal before crossing, and always cross in front of the bus — never behind.
