Calling all 3rd-5th graders! It's time for our spring Boot Camp! We are going to have a great day on Saturday, March 28, 2026. It is important that we are good stewards of our funds and we kindly ask that you check your calendars before registering your child. We always have a waiting list and hate for students to miss out on this fun day of learning outdoors.

Today at Kids in Motion, our focus was Nutrition. Our Food Service Director Mrs. Livingood was our guest speaker. She told us about Go Foods (eat anytime), Slow Foods (eat sometimes), and Whoa Foods (eat once in a while). We also talked about Switcheroo - which is swapping out a whoa food for a healthier option! Then students made posters and played a game with their new knowledge! 🥦🍞🍟

The NEXT Sherman Background Check Day will be Friday, March 6th from 8:30 AM - 3 PM (flyer attached). You will need a VALID driver's license and $10 (exact cash or check). Parent/Guardians are welcome to reach out to me to schedule an appointment - this allows me to be ready & available. We also accept walk-ins within the scheduled time - wait time is possible.
If that day does not work for you:
🔍Crittenden Mt. Zion Elementary has Background Checks on Monday, March 2nd from 5-6 PM. No appointment necessary. (flyer attached)
🔍Dry Ridge Elementary has Background Checks on Tuesday, March 3rd from 4-6 PM. Walk-ins welcome. (flyer attached)
If your child's field trip is scheduled for April, you will NEED to attend a March Background Check date to ensure it is processed in time. If you have completed a Background Check already this School Year, you are covered! If you have any questions, message me!

Today at Kids in Motion, our focus was Physical Health. Mrs. Hamilton told students about the importance of exercise and moving their body every day! Then, students went for a jog around the playground, did some cardio drumming routines, and jumped rope - all activities were heart healthy exercises! ❤️💪🏻

Today at Kids in Motion, our focus was Mental Health. Our amazing school counselor Mrs. Vanhoose was our guest speaker. She told us the importance of taking care of our brain and she shared coping strategies for BIG emotions like sadness or anger. Then we tried out journaling and yoga - two great strategies for reseting ourselves! 🧘🏻♀️💚🧠

TOMORROW, Saturday (2/21) is ⭐A Night under the Stars ✨Family Dance! 5-7 PM! Sherman Cafeteria & Gym.
A few details:
✨This dance is for ALL Sherman students & their families!
✨Park in the BACK parking lot.
✨Enter at the back, Cafeteria doors (four glass doors).
✨A family adult MUST attend with students & supervise their own child(ren) for safety purposes.
✨We are encouraging all to dress their best, but remember this dance is held at school, so dress school appropriate.
✨Dance entry & the photo booth are FREE! We 🩷Family Photos!
✨Food and drinks are available for purchase (CASH only). All money earned supports our school through our PTT!

Sherman had assemblies today featuring Mr. Stan Ginn! Mr. Stan is an incredible drummer who taught students how he turned everyday items (like buckets and paint cans) into percussion instruments! Our students favorite part was joining him to perform for their peers! Thanks, Mr. Smith and the Art in Mind grant, for providing this opportunity for our students! 🥁
Wow - what a perfect February day for Garden Club! Today we painted flower pots, planted succulents, and set up the hydroponic systems for second grade! Second grade classrooms will be growing tomato plants in their rooms, so they can hand pollinate them! Second grade covers a pollinator unit! 🦋🍅🐝
