IMPORTANT STATE TESTING INFORMATION

Families of Students in Grades 3–5:

It is the time of year when we begin to prepare for state testing. All students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will participate in Kentucky Summative Assessment. Testing will take place May 5-8 and May 11. We know that there is so much more to your child than a test score. We do, however, want to give each student the opportunity to do his/her best during this testing season. We want you to be informed about some important testing information. Your student’s teacher will share the specific schedule for each grade level. There are a few things we want you to be aware of that will apply to all students in grades 3-5 during testing:

Your child’s attendance during this week is imperative. If a student misses a testing session due to an absence, he or she must still complete that portion of the test. With that in mind, please consider the following:

Make every effort to ensure your child is at school each day during testing May 5-8 and May 11.
We have only a few days to makeup any testing missed due to student absences. This may impact participation in other events.

Testing Schedule
May 5: Grades 3-5-Quality of School Climate and Safety Survey
May 6: Grades 3-5-Reading
May 7: Grades 3-5- Math
May 8: 4th Grade-Science; 5th Grade-Social Studies
May 11: 5th Grade-Editing & Mechanics and On Demand Writing

Your child’s attendance is critical during this time. Missed tests must be made up, and makeup opportunities are limited. Please avoid scheduling appointments during this week.

Electronics Policy During Testing:
All devices (phones, tablets, smartwatches, etc.) will be turned off and securely stored.

Grades 4–5: Devices stored in lockers.
Grade 3: Devices collected in labeled classroom baskets, secured by staff.

Help Your Child Succeed:
Ensure daily attendance and punctuality.

Encourage early bedtimes and healthy breakfasts (doors open at 7:30 a.m.).

Motivate your child to do their best. Here is a link for you to send a message of encouragement for your child to read during the testing window. https://forms.gle/6VoN5MFgeU3HtZ398

For questions, contact your child’s teacher or call the office at 859-428-5500.

Thank you,
Shannon Brickler

4/15 Our last Afterschool Art for the school year was a little hectic and a lot of fun! Our artist of the month was American artist Jackson Pollock an important figure in Abstract Expressionism. His abstract art matched well with students' bike spin artwork! Our second project was in honor of Earth Day next week (4/22) - students created their own Earth with accessories! We tried creating art outside, but the wind was not on our side! 🌎🎨🖌
