GCMS...Staying in Touch!

Dear Parents:
While the school year is coming to a close, there is still a lot going on at GCMS!  Please check out all of the following:

Your Students Can Earn Prizes!

We are implementing our Spring Green program for the remainder of the school year.  Any student that submits all of their work and are caught up with what they are required to complete; will go into drawings for amazing prizes!  We will be drawing for prizes no later than May 18th- have your students talk to their teachers if they have any questions! Check out our future Facebook live to see if your child is a winner!

Locker Cleanout

We know your students probably have a lot of personal belongings here at school in their lockers.  Please follow these guidelines for retrieving these items.

1. We ask that only the student come into the building (Social distancing and counting the number of students at entry will occur).

2. We ask that students wear masks for their own safety.

3. Students will receive a garbage bag upon entry to place their locker contents into.

4. Tubs will be in the hallway for students to place library and text books.

If your child does NOT remember their locker combination- that is fine, we have universal keys that will open their lockers. We are trying to make this process as safe and efficient as possible, please do not plan on meeting friends here or practicing unsafe social distancing.  We will be monitoring the hallways to ensure every student is safe.

Packet Drop-Off

If you are a family that received a packet for work after spring break, please bring those packets with you as you clean out your lockers. Please have all packets submitted by May 8th, 2020.

6th and 7th Grade Awards

Even though times are different, we still believe in celebrating our kids. Please know students receiving awards will still be recognized.  Further information on this will be forthcoming.

8th Grade Promotion

In leu of waiting until July for a possible in-person promotion, we will be celebrating our 8th graders in a fun and different way.  We ask that on May 12th at 1pm all 8th graders partake in a celebratory parade from GCHS (Grant County High School) to GCMS.  We are asking 8th grade students and parents to arrive at GCHS and park in the lower Student lot at 12:30pm.  (Please stay in your vehicle- social distancing will be enforced).  At 1pm the Parade will begin with escorts through Dry Ridge until you arrive here at GCMS.  While you are driving through our parking lot you will stop at a table to receive your promotion certificate as well as any awards your child has received.

Along the parade route (through Dry Ridge) please encourage family/friends to park (social Distance) and wave and celebrate with you!   Please feel free to decorate your vehicle and celebrate with us!
