Imagine a whole world of learning available at one’s fingertips – opportunities to explore, touch, examine, build – opportunities to apply the newfound knowledge or to dig deeper in the quest for a more thorough understanding. Now, place this opportunity within the walls of a traditional high school and allow eager young minds to seamlessly integrate concepts learned in the classroom with real-world application of skills. For an added bonus, connect with local colleges, tech schools, and industries to allow yet another seamless transition – this time into institutions of higher learning and/or the work force. Imagine high school graduates beginning their lives with certifications and college credits in hand combined with purpose, focus, and direction for a future of higher education, gainful employment, and contributions to society. Imagine the change that comes to a community when knowledge and opportunity meet.

This was the vision of Superintendent Michael Hibbett and the Grant County Board of Education – and this is the reality of the Grant County Career and Technology Center.

The Career and Technology Center houses twelve programs; Automotive Technology, Bio-Medical, Electrical Technology, Health Sciences, Information Technology, Pre-Engineering, and Welding Technology which complement four previously existing programs; Agriculture, Business, Family & Consumer Sciences and JROTC. These career pathways have been identified by workforce projection experts as areas with the greatest need and highest potential for employment. All twelve programs offer a state-of-the-art learning environment equipped with advanced tools of the trade together with instructors who are highly qualified, experienced and zealous in their calling. Successful completion of specific courses of study in each program lead to industry-recognized certifications and/or dual credit opportunities with local colleges and universities.
