Library Media Center

Welcome

My name is Mrs. Lail and I am the Library Media Specialist at Grant County High School.  I look forward to helping students improve their information literacy and research skills.

The Grant County High School Library is a busy and well equipped library which supports grades 9 - 12 curriculum. The library offers students access to a large collection of non-fiction book resources, a vibrant collection of fiction books and a growing collection of electronic resources. All students take part in library orientation classes, information skills lessons, library research activities and current information research lessons during their time at Grant County High School. Classes are booked by their teachers for research as well as groups and individual students are sent from classes to conduct research. In the library there are 39 multimedia, Internet linked computers available for class and individual student use. The Library also has an area under the dome setup with 13 tables to accommodate students for a quiet working area for small groups or individual non-computer related work. The facility can also access Microsoft Outlook Web mail from any computer within the library. Teachers also can create documents and Web Quest which are store in a "Student Work" folder for their students to have access. Digital cameras, video cameras, LCD Projectors, CD and DVD players and VCR setups are available to teachers and students for curriculum purposes.

In August 2007, a new addition to the school's Media Center was the Mobile Wireless Laptop Lab.  This consists of two carts of 16 laptops each (total 32 laptops).  Teachers check the carts out to their room and students are able to access the internet or any other loaded software on the laptop.  Our students are certainly enjoying using the laptops.
