Dear Parents,

Can you believe we are one quarter of the way through this school year?  Time is flying by so fast.  We are super excited to share some of the great things that have been going on here this nine weeks and things yet to come.

·         Kindergarteners are completing their first reading unit and will celebrate with a parade around the building Monday, October 30th.

·         First graders have been working on building their reading stamina and are up to over 30 minutes of sustained reading time.

·         Second grade is gearing up for a fieldtrip on Friday of this week.

·         Third grade students are also really concentrating on the habits that good readers have.  I heard one student even cleaned out her closet at home to make a quiet, special place she could read at night!  How cool is that!!!

·         Our fourth grade scientists are busy with some project-based learning that will have them knee-deep into building a zoo!

·         Native Americans and their customs and culture is the topic in fifth grade Social Studies.  They have also been working on a persuasive letter about whether we should do away with chocolate milk in the café.  Needless to say, that has sparked some heated arguments!!!

·         CMZ has a new Facebook page.  Be sure to check it out and start following us.  We will post news, announcements and highlight great things that are happening here at school.

·         We will celebrate Halloween and Eagle Pride on October 31st.  Students may wear costumes that day but please no masks or gruesome costumes.

I also would like to let you know that we will be having an opening for a parent representative on our SBDM Council effective at the end of the month.  Mrs. Autumn Yelton will be stepping down to take on an even more crucial role in our building.  She will be our new Preschool Assistant.  We truly appreciate Autumn’s willingness to serve on our council and are excited to have her onboard in a new capacity.  If you are interested in running for the open position, please fill out the nomination portion below and send it back into school.  The election will be held at November’s PTT meeting on November 9th

Looking forward to a great 2nd nine weeks!

I would like to be on the ballot for the vacant SBDM position.
