The Grant County Board of Education has chosen Mr. Matthew A. Morgan as the new Superintendent of Schools, effective May 17, 2017.  Mr. Morgan comes to the position with 26 years of experience, 25 of which have been with the Grant County School District.
 
Mr. Morgan is a native of Grant County, having attended elementary school at Mason Elementary, and graduating from Grant County High School in 1987. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics Education from the University of Kentucky (1991), his Master of Arts in Secondary Education (1997) and Rank I (1999) from Northern Kentucky University, and his Superintendent’s certification from Xavier University (2003).
 
Mr. Morgan’s service to Grant County Schools includes roles as a teacher at Grant County High School and Grant County Middle School, Assistant Principal at Grant County Middle School, Director of Pupil Personnel at the district level, and since 2007, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Personnel. Additionally, since January 1, 2017, Mr. Morgan has served as Interim Superintendent, following the retirement of Dr. Ron Livingood.
 
Gene Nelson, Chairman of the Grant County Board of Education, spoke of the Board’s decision, “Mr. Morgan brings a tremendous number of assets to the position. His background in Grant County Schools provides an unmatched knowledge of the district, community recognition, and a proven dedication to our students and this community at large. His work ethic is also proven - providing integrity, trust-worthiness, and tireless effort. Finally, and most important, he is in tune with the mission and goals established by the Board and provides fresh ideas for continuing progress in a positive direction. His stated goals for our students - with a focus on reading, writing, math literacy, and 21st century skills – will be most important in ensuring our students are successful as they transition into adulthood. We are very pleased to introduce him as Superintendent of Grant County Schools.”
