It is always a good idea to keep your Chromebook up to date. Periodically Google will release new updates for Chromebooks. These usually include updates with the newest features and patches for security vulnerabilities. Google will automatically push these updates out to devices over time. However, these deployments are on a broad rotation and can take quite a while. It may be necessary to manually run the updates to ensure you have the latest release.
